Josh Hubbard (Class of 2023) is a high scoring 5-10 combo guard from Madison-Ridgeland Academy in Madison, MS.
Hubbard is a third year sophomore starter for the Madison-Ridgeland varsity and has led them to state titles during his eighth grade and freshman seasons. Hubbard is currently averaging 25 points per game this season. He averaged 15.3 points his eighth grade season and 18.2 his freshman year. He has scored 1685 career points at the time of the writing of this article, with a career high of 46 during his freshman year.
Hubbard is stoutly built and strong for his size. He is very athletic and very much capable of catching a body against unwise opponents. His real strength is his ability to shoot the ball. He is just as comfortable shooting from the midrange or three point range but he does his most damage from beyond the three point line. He gets extremely high on his jump shot and his range is well beyond the three point line, it sometimes seems the further out defenders pick him up, the further out he can shoot. A solid ball-handler he can play on or off the ball and his stout build and athleticism allows him to also be a strong finisher on drives into the paint.
He is currently the #1 ranked player in the Mississippi Class of 2023 and already has early offers from Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Southern Miss, Jackson State and New Orleans. I have no doubt that when he hits the circuit this coming spring he will climb up the national rankings.
